GASPARE MANOS

Opening 4th June 2009 : 6 pm

JURIS & PERL is proud to present 'KIMONO'

An exhibition of the artist GASPARE MANOS during the 53' Venice Biennale of Art 2009.

The title of this Biennale "Making Worlds", coincides with the works presented by this well known artist, once defined by the Philosopher Karl Popper as the 'imaginifico of contemporary art'. Gaspare's works are the result of a profound ontological and phenomenological research on nature and human nature. The works presented recall the shape of the Kimono, are constructed of multiple canvases depicting scenes of nature and are clearly a link to the Oriental upbringing of this Italian artist born in Asia.

This artist, according to Rosa Maria Malet ( current director of the Joan Miro' Foundation in Barcelona), has the capacity to dominate colour. This makes him an heir to the great painting tradition of his country.

Gaspare Manos has lived in Asia, Africa and Europe. His works are found in numerous private and corporate collections. The recent retrospective 'URBIS' at the Museo Diocesano for the Venice Architectural Biennale 2008 patroned by the City of Venice is an example of the success and maturity reached by this Italian artist of international scope.
